Tambi: Not just another Café on the Map in Vasai

Café

Some cafés are built to serve coffee. Others are built to create an experience. Vasai based café, Tambi belongs to the latter. Started on 22nd October 2025, Tambi is a bootstrapped venture by Anirudha Kadam and Riya Save (from distinct professional backgrounds) who came together to create a space rooted in quality, comfort, and character. While many café stories begin with a business plan, Tambi began with passion to be beyond yet another Café on the Map. It is a confluence of hospitality and spatial design experience from two unique individuals that made a visually and thoughtfully distinct Café in Vasai.

Here’s the story of Tambi …

A journey that came full circle

Being a hospitality graduate from Goa, hospitality was never accidental for Anirudha as he knew he always belonged to the industry. His early professional journey began at Starbucks, where he developed a deeper appreciation for coffee culture, customer experience, and the operational precision. All these were to create memorable café moments. Though his career later shifted into marketing, the pull towards hospitality never faded as it was waiting for the right moment to take shape.

The story behind the name

The name Tambi carries a personal memory. Back during his Starbucks days, Anirudha’s brother would jokingly tease him, calling him the “chotu of a coffee shop.” That playful nickname eventually evolved into “Tambi.” What began as family banter became the identity of a café that would later stand for warmth, familiarity, and authenticity. Sometimes the best brand names aren’t brainstormed in boardrooms, they emerge from life itself.

Where design met vision

Tambi’s story is also one of collaboration. While Anirudh brought hospitality experience and customer insight, Riya brought spatial storytelling. As the founder of her own interior design studio, she designed the café’s interiors with intent, creating a space that feels thoughtful, inviting, and visually distinct. Every corner reflects a careful balance between aesthetics and comfort, ensuring that Tambi is not just a place to grab coffee, but a place people want to stay. It’s this blend of hospitality and design thinking that gives the café its identity.

The challenge: never compromise on quality

Like most bootstrapped ventures, building Tambi came with its share of hurdles. But for the founders, one challenge stood above everything else: getting the taste and quality right. In an increasingly crowded café culture, they knew ambience alone would never be enough. The focus was clear from day one, no compromises. From refining recipes to maintaining consistency, every decision was centered around delivering an experience customers could trust and return for. Because for Tambi, quality is non-negotiable.

Building something meaningful in Vasai

Launching an independent café in Vasai takes more than passion. It takes belief. Belief that people are looking for spaces that offer more than just products. Spaces that offer connection, comfort, and experience. That belief powers Tambi. Bootstrapped and built from genuine intent, the café stands as proof that when passion is paired with execution, meaningful brands can emerge anywhere.

Tambi is not just another café on the map. It is the result of a founder returning to his first love, a designer translating vision into space, and two entrepreneurs building something honest
