As the second wave of COVID-19 struck India with vengeance beyond apprehension, Indian healthcare struggled to counter the sudden upsurge in the rate of infection and demand for hospitalization. But, in this time of need, hands of support from across the world.
Avanos Medical, a US-based medical device organization through its India Affiliate, Avanos Medical India Pvt. Ltd., came forward to commit to the cause by donating USD 50,000 to Direct Relief India and simultaneously donated COVID Care ICU Kit which will directly impact the needy patients in the ICU.
Apart from the metro cities Avanos India team and ASSOCHAM reached out to cities like Pune, Nagpur, Raipur, Ludhiana, Jodhpur, Lucknow, Cochin, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, and Patna ensuring that each hospital received the Kit in time, and could support hose patients in need of these products.
Each Avanos COVID Care ICU Kit consisted of 100 Turbo Closed suction and 100 HMEF (Heat and Moisture Exchange Filter). These products are very important for any patient getting admitted in the ICU and requiring mechanical ventilation.50 such boxes of same size were specially designed and labeled for the cause.
The entire execution, from planning till delivery to hospitals was completed within 3 weeks despite logistics challenge, as we wanted to reach patients with solutions when it matters the most, in line with our company aim. Global and India management worked relentless during this time to handle all challenges towards timely delivery of products.
This execution in these impacted territories targeted by us would not have been smooth without the support of ASSOCHAM, the oldest industry association of India. From arranging the interim storage site of kits and drawing up the name of COVID hospitals till establishing contact with the right authority in each of the hospitals, ASSOCHAM got associated with Avanos in this noble cause with utmost dedication.
Avanos ensured that our team handed over the boxes directly to the concerned users and hence the products reaching out to the patients immediately. Each delivery was assisted by senior team members who were able to answer all queries of doctors or HCPs in terms of training support and product usage.
